On births … and deaths

Today is what the ‘world’ celebrates as the All Saints’ Day. Pinoys popularly call it Undas, Araw ng mga patay, Pista ng mga patay, or — as our older folks refer to it — by its spanish equivalent Todos los Santos. Bugtong, or riddles, usually abound during these times when I was young.

Now… before you die (I hope it won’t be soon enough so that you will be given ample time on this — ), I want to leave you a two-millennium-old paradox(?), or ‘riddle’ for you to ponder upon.

Have you heard about this:

  • ONE birth, TWO deaths ?
  • TWO births, ONE death ?

This, in fact, is not just a riddle — these two are your only options. And if you are living at these times, well-informed enough to use a computer and browse or surf the internet, even if you do not make a choice, you are left stuck at the first option.

Hamsters, or any animals, have only ONE birth, ONE death; but each person (that includes you) — unless he or she is a faithful believer of and will be caught up in the ‘Blessed Hope’ (in which case there is TWO births and NO death) — has to ‘pick’ one out of the two choices. I am not scaring you. This is not a threat, only a warning. There is nothing new in it and my only basis is the Scriptures. I have to tell you that the faithful believers I am referring to above have chosen the second option. If you want to know more, you can post your questions to me as a comment. I will answer your questions via your e-mail.

Or if you prefer, you can just click on the links below and ask me about it later.

  1. yes. of course. two births and one death. sa panahon natin ngayon, karamihan two deaths. pero malapit na ang wakas, kaya lalaganap pa ang Word. so be it.

I can feel that you have a great potential for it. I don’t want to drop names or to plug anybody’s church or affiliation in here, but let me do it now for the first and last time: if you know Ptr. Ed Lapiz (schoolmate ko sa UPLB, but he doesn’t know me kasi masyado akong low profile) of Day by Day, or Bro. Butch Conde (a former atheist from Ateneo) of Bread of Life, you can be like them — with, of course, your own unique style… that is, if you have this same “calling”.
But do not fret my friend, we cannot be blamed if we don’t have the same “higher calling” as these two men; on the other hand, we cannot brag our way in, if we have the calling. Because these men are there, not to glorify themselves but to glorify God, the very responsible Person for their being called and chosen. Meanwhile, let us spread the Word as best as we can in our own little ways — however ‘humble’ it seems to be…

  2. i’ve known ptr. ed lapis through his appearance on universitv at saka sa radio programs niya. the calling. i am still lost. hindi ko alam kung saan patungo pero inaayos ko ang buhay ko for Him. though i stumble, hindi dapat mag-worry. sabi nga ng status ko sa ym palagi, jesus + anything = nothing, jesus + nothing = everything. haay. siguro sa pagsusulat ako. is that’s my calling, paano ko ba malalaman.

homebodyhubby: O… hahaha! I was so surprised for your immediate response! I am still right here on this blog polishing my ‘grammar’ in my response to your first comment above.
I am planning to send you a copy of that via e-mail, kasi nga am thinking na baka hindi mo na ito balikan…
and there you are… hahaha🙂 thanks!
Lost? I don’t think so… you have been found already, di ba? huwag mong ayusin mag-isa ang buhay mo — let Him do it. be like a clay that can be molded. hindi ka lang siguro ma-blessed… baka naman kasi hindi pa nasasaid ang hate at bitterness sa heart mo? (that had been my struggle, too)
And writing? Yes I think so. I can see that that is your gift, your passion… your calling. and he who calls you will further equip you…

  3. hello homebody hubby, musta na po i think you are born again christian, nahihiwagaan ako sa User name mo but anyway i just want you to know na im born again christian under Reformed Presbyterian church Of the Philippines, and kilala ko si Ptr Ed lapis madalas kasi ako nakikinig ng 702 DZAS isa syang magaling na preacher sana magkakwentuhan tayo para naman makilala kita as my brother in christ thanks nga pala sa comment mo and if you know me better just continue to read my Blog.actually i have two account in wordpress. here is the one jmpc.wordpress.com and misty35.wordpress.com. THANKS again and God Bless You!!!

Ok… God bless.🙂

  4. ask ko lang, if its ok, usually kc, yung mga “reformed” christians, either may near death exp. or may mega trials na napagdaanan. isa ka ba dun? or u rili just found ur way back in?

homebodyhubby: okey na okey, ‘mine’… it is always my pleasure to answer questions — especially about this topic.

okey yun… that’s true and i really agree with it and i like it! …pero iba itong HEAVEN na tinutukoy dito.

yung mega trials marami na… hanggang ngayon nga
meron pa rin at maaaring marami pang darating. no big deal. ekutatakut! …kasi oldatym I know Christ is in control of my life and destiny. 😀

marami nakakikilala sa Panginoon kapag ganyan lang na may dumarating na “mega trials.” pag may mabigat na problema. o kaya may sakit.

“our gaze is vertically directed upward when we are lain horizontally.” …this is figurative but true.

being born-again is not your own doing… it’s the work of Jesus Christ Himself — but it involves your WILL! …the links above on this post tell you how …kung gusto mo pwede mo ring basahin yung post ni ginoong lapis …click this:

    John 3:16

pag me tanong ka pa huwak ikaw hiya… 😛

  5. […] Have you heard about the second BIRTH? That can only happen within “Life” – somewhere between the two dots. That is a “concern” that needs not bother any hamster, though. […]
