A Mother’s portrait

What more can vividly portray a mother than a woman with a child?

“You’re the greatest mom in the world!”

“Mama, you are the best!”

“Wala kang katulad, Inay!”

It reminded me of Sarah Connor, the mother of John Connor, future leader of those who survived the nuclear holocaust in their fight against the ‘machines’ – thus saving humankind from total extinction.Pero fiction lang ito… and am not endorsing the movie here, sinampol ko lang.

How about a true story?A real-life ‘man’ who is the only capable of saving every WILLING human creature from eternal damnation? Considering this, the greatest woman would be her mother. I am referring to Mary, the mother of Jesus.

Klaro ang pagkakasulat ko ha? – the mother of JesusNOT ‘the Mother of god.’

“Hail (Mary), thou that arthighly favored, the Lord iswith thee: blessed artthou among women. …And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.” (Luke 1:28, 31)

Pero ito, HINDI mo makikita sa Bible:

“Hail Mary, mother of God, PRAY for us sinners…”

Alam nyo bang “cross-cultural” pala ang mother-and-child tandem na iyan, at nag-e-exist na even centuries before Jesus was born to Mary?Ibig sabihin, maraming mother-and-child “images” na mas nauna pa – in fact, Church historians and Bible scholars firmly believe that “ours, christians” had originated from the very ‘first one.’

Medyo related sa topic ko ngayon ang susunod na sasabihin ko, kaya let me take this time to say this:

I have this anonymous e-mailer (I mentioned this in the April 22 post) that kept me puzzled for a long time about a term that he/she used: inakay.

Well, mr or ms anonymous, these are the possibilities:

First, baka hindi naman intentional. In other words, coincidental – nataon lang, maski na sabihin pa nating four or five yata yung magkakasunod na posts nya.

Second, it might be intentional, pero baka hindi naman “nambabanat”?His posts titles that seemed to ‘echo’ mine I have just seen in the Admin panel before WordPress upgraded its dashboard (Madali kasing makita nuon sa lumang dashboard ang mga avatars at blog and post titles ‘di ba?Ngayon hindi na.)But as far as the content of his post entries are concerned, I have no idea – hindi naman kasi ako nagbabasa ng write-ups nya.

To this I don’t see any need to apologize. If I mentioned the word barbidals twice during that time in February (and March), I am NOT referring to him nor to anything that is ‘HIS’.

Just let it be… (“When I find myself in times of trouble, Mama Mary comes to me.Speaking words of wisdom, Let it be.”)This is a free country, and that is his blog.As for me, not a single post of what I am writing here is aimed at him – hindi ko sya kilala. In the first place, hindi ko sya ka-blog (wala sya sa blogroll ko).Kahit minsan hindi pa ako nagko-comment sa blog nya dahil hindi ko naman pinupuntahan ang bahay nya.I do not go for anybody (or anything) just for ‘it’ being popular or ‘at the top’ or the first, because this doesn’t always mean ‘it’ is ‘the best’ (or even good) – maski na ba ito pa ang ‘consensus’ ng marami.

Does this make you feel better now, my mysterious e-mail sender? So donk yu wori… okeys?

No more anonymouses (daga?), please… don’t be afraid.

So much for that…I hope this would be the last.

How can we identify a cult? That is why we should be reading the Bible, not just believing in anything anybody say.Even what I say here, check it out with the final authority (Bible), just like what the Bereans was doing (Acts 17:11). Bible, kasi “kristyano” tayo.

First time to read my blog? Check these out:

“RELASYON” …the second time around!

In the gospel of John, chapter 3 verse 30, John the Baptist declared:

“He (the Christ) must become greater; I must become less.”

And I have been doing this sort of ‘expose’ eversince in Evangelism Explosion (1991).I hope nobody here would be self-centered enough to think that I am referring PARTICULARLY to him or her. Trabaho lang, walang personalan.

Nasasaatin yun, if we want to continue worshipping and praying to J.B. or to M.M.But as for me, I will always go for you know who – J.C.

No… not John Connor!I mean the real and living one!

What is wrong with praying directly to Jesus, the resurrected Christ? For sure, John and Mary did the same – and want you to do so.
